I’m getting more and more excited each day to bring Broderick to life. When building out a new space, progress is incremental. Construction can be slow, but it is easy to get excited for the little things, walls going up, electrical outlets going in, or a new piece of equipment arriving in the mail. Each one a sign that we are one step closer.
Every day that I am in our space on Gaylord street, I see people pressing their head to the glass, wondering when we are going to open. Sometimes, I open the door so they can look inside, and I get to hear about their excitement to welcome us to the Wash Park neighborhood. I tell them about our goals and our progress so far.
We are now just a few short months away from opening, and I am working hard on the menu, the cocktail selections, testing each recipe. This is the fun part. Making recipes over and over until they light me up. Tasting and discovering how minor tweaks of each ingredient create a new sense of balance until I get a “that’s it!” tinge of excitement. If it lights me up, I know it’s going to light you up. I am tasting meats and cheeses to find the right balance for our meat and cheese plates. I’m meeting with purveyors to bring you some of the best of the best that Colorado has to offer.
Broderick is going to be so much more than just a place to taste and bask in our cocktails. We are aiming to make it a third space for you. A living room that has wonderful music and conversation. We just got approved for our cabaret license, which means we can bring you comedy and live music. We will be a place where you can discover local musicians and artists that care about creating a perfect vibe in which to explore new flavors. I heard this quote the other day and it really moved me. "Art is how we decorate space, music is how we decorate time." (Jean-Michel Basquiat) When you spend time at Broderick, we hope to decorate your lives so that you get lost, just for a moment, in all of your senses.
